Solar Ground Mount Big Mistake

Описание: I always show the good with the bad. In this short video I walk through what went wrong with my low cost ground mount and how I plan to fix it on the next build. The current array developed a roller coaster effect as the 2x6s warped. I compare it to my older ground mount that stayed straight because I ran the Unistrut the other way. I also show how running Unistrut horizontally lets me use simple clamps and why I am switching to that layout for the next install.

If you are planning a budget ground mount, this is a quick look at what I would change. I have another 80 panels to put up, so the next build will use horizontal Unistrut and better material choices to avoid warping.

What I would change next time

Run Unistrut horizontally for stronger, straighter spans

Use clamps designed for horizontal Unistrut runs

Be more selective with lumber and avoid pieces prone to twist and cup

Add bracing or intermediate supports where spans are long
