The India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is often described as the “Mother of All Deals” due to its wide-ranging impact on trade, economy, and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). A common question among IPR and Patent aspirants is whether this agreement can lead to more Patent Examiner jobs in India.
In this video, we explain how the India-EU FTA can have a positive indirect impact on Patent Examiner recruitment. The European Union strongly emphasizes high IPR standards, and if the agreement is finalized, it is likely to result in a significant increase in patent filings in India, especially from European companies.
An increase in patent applications directly increases the workload of the Indian Patent Office (CGPDTM). To manage this growing examination burden, there may be a greater need for Patent Examiners, Controllers of Patents, and trained IPR professionals, which creates a favourable environment for future recruitment.
This video is especially useful for Patent Examiner aspirants, IPR students, law students, UPSC and Judiciary aspirants, and anyone interested in understanding the link between international trade agreements and government job opportunities in the IPR sector.
