Paradise's Shailene Woodley Breaks Down Her Devastating Holy Charge Scene With Sterling K. Brown

We're only four episodes into Paradise Season 2, and already, Dan Fogelman's Hulu sci-fi series hasn't held back in delivering a series of emotional punches. After his plane crash-lands — coincidentally, outside of Elvis Presley's Graceland — former Secret Service agent Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown) doesn't have any time to waste, despite dealing with a reaggravated knee injury and no tangible way to reach Atlanta to reunite with his wife, Teri (Enuka Okuma). What he does have, eventually, is a reluctant ally in former Graceland tour guide and med student Annie Clay, played by Shailene Woodley, who has her own conditions for helping Xavier heal. Initially, Annie insists that Xavier go along with her plan to reunite with Link in Colorado (Thomas Doherty), but then relents, and the two start trekking to Atlanta. They don't get far before Annie's labor starts, and tragically, after giving birth to a baby girl, she dies in Xavier's arms after issuing him a "holy charge": to get her daughter to Colorado so that she can reunite with a father who doesn't even know she exists.

Ahead of the return of Paradise, Collider had the opportunity to speak with the show's new and returning cast about some of the most pivotal moments in Season 2's initial episodes, including Woodley and Doherty. Over the course of the interview, which you can watch above or read below, the two discuss whether Annie and Link's admittedly short-lived romance was a chance encounter or something more like destiny, the emotional experience of filming Episode 4's "holy charge" scene, the mysteries still surrounding Doherty's character, and more.
