Like a lot of Ram owners, I had the notorious “Service ABS” and “Service Electric Brake System” cautions alerts accompanied by incessant warning chime, traction control and cruise control failures. This could happen randomly, daily, whenever.
ABS scanner gave 2 codes. “HCU (ABS pump) general electrical failure” and “ABS general electrical failure”. $1600 quote for service with NO ETA for parts!
I decided to remove the driver side front splash guard and check the wiring harness. Reseated (remove and reconnect) the ABS wiring harness from ABS module and there was quite a lot of dirt and sand inside. Cleaned and reattached. No more ABS issues!
