A long essay is incoming below, so feel free to read, skim, or skip it. I'll go over my thoughts on the past 10 years working on Trainz, and what's next for this channel.

Alright, here we go.

My first exposure to Trainz was during the mid-late 2000s here on YouTube (yes, the early days), with videos from Ali3xp, nichols15, PuertoRican88, BroadwayExpressN, SubwayVaughn, and Caitsith810 catching my interest. I've always wanted to play the New York City Subway on my computer, and Trainz was the better-looking game at the time, so that's the one I chose. The ability to operate multiple trains at once and the ease of map building are what kept me on Trainz for so long. I owned Trainz Classics 1 & 2, and eventually upgraded to Trainz 12 in 2011.

When I first made the channel, I didn't have any expectations for it. I just thought of it as a place where I could archive my videos in case my hard drive ever died (which ironically happened thrice since then). However, it didn't take long before this channel started to grow, and viewers started expecting more videos. I met a lot of amazing people in the NYCTA Trainz Community, from the BDC Development Team and people on the Trainz forums, to you guys in the comments section over the years. You all witnessed The Outside World evolve from a tiny neighborhood into a gargantuan tri-state map, with multiple modes of transportation (Just compare the 2013 clip to the 2020 clip to see what I mean).

The very first video I published on this channel was on jeffmorris' NYCTA2007 map. Now in 2022, I'm modifying jeffmorris' map to expand it, correct various alignment issues, add scenery, and update the assets with higher quality tracks/stations. That's what the NYCTA DE project is all about. I'm creating the map I wished was available when I was younger, and maybe you guys will get inspired the same way I was inspired by those who came before me. Everything came full circle.

In 2012, I would have never thought that I'd still be making videos on this channel 10 years later, so I have you all to thank for sticking around on my YouTube journey. I intend on finishing all 7 phases of the NYCTA DE to make it look pretty, release it AND The Outside World after the dependencies are eventually released, then I'm going to retire from map building, as life is catching up to me and I won't have time to dedicate to Trainz like I used to. The NYCTA DE and The Outside World will be my final gifts to you guys once they're released, and they'll serve as my legacy in the Trainz community.

With over 2.6 million total views as of the upload of this video, and over 3K subscribers, I'd like to thank you all again for the past 10 years. It's been a long ride, and so much has changed since then, but I'll continue to deliver quality content and keep you guys drip-fed with videos and map updates for the foreseeable future.
