The Saloma Link has been open to the public since 2020 but its my first time checking it out 😁
Pintasan Saloma (Saloma Link) is more than just a pedestrian bridge; it carries cultural and symbolic meaning:
• Design inspiration: Its shape is modeled after the sirih junjung, a traditional betel leaf arrangement used in Malay weddings and ceremonies, symbolizing unity and blessings.
• Cultural tribute: The bridge is named after Saloma, a legendary Malaysian singer and actress (and wife of P. Ramlee), honoring her contribution to the nation’s arts and culture.
• Symbolic connection: It physically links Kampung Baru (a historic Malay settlement) with Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), representing the bridge between tradition and modernity in Malaysia.
• Tourism & identity: At night, the LED lights illuminate the structure in the colors of the Malaysian flag (red, white, blue, and yellow), reinforcing national pride.
✨ So, it’s not only practical as a walkway but also a cultural landmark reflecting Malaysia’s heritage and progress.
