After walking to Mapperley Colliery in my last walk, I jump off the Mapperley Branch and onto the site of the former West Hallam Colliery and Ironworks. The Ironworks went in 1886 and the colliery was sealed in 1941, but the site was given a new lease of life as a coal screening plant during WW2 and lasted right up until 1985.
Very few remains, but the cows are having a belter of a time.
I then walk following a spur out of the screening, and onto the former GNR Friar Gate line, where the walk ends.
