Following the initial construction of the Eyak River Boating Site in Cordova, Alaska, additional upgrades required the use of AquaDams® as an environmentally compliant cofferdam system. Crews installed a 4ft-tall double closed end (DCE) AquaDam®, converting it into a single closed end (SCE) configuration to optimize filling efficiency and anchoring it securely to the riverbank. A second 4ft DCE AquaDam® was installed downstream as structural support for the main 8ft-tall, 355ft-long SCE AquaDam®. Using multiple pumps, workers carefully controlled the filling process to maintain hydraulic head pressure and ensure stability during deployment. Turns were executed by adjusting pump flow and manually guiding the roll into position. Once fully filled, the 8ft SCE AquaDam® formed a U-shaped cofferdam, successfully isolating the work area from the Eyak River. The completed system provided effective containment, stability, and environmental protection throughout the project.
