VV Rajesh Becomes First BJP Mayor in Thiruvananthapuram, Asha Nath GS Deputy Mayor

Описание: VV Rajesh has been elected as the first BJP Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram, ending 45 years of Left rule in the city. BJP secured support from 51 of the 101 ward members. Rajesh, a lawyer and veteran BJP leader, won from Kodunganoor ward by 515 votes.

Asha Nath G.S has been named Deputy Mayor. A three-time BJP councilor, she belongs to the Dalit community, contested the 2021 assembly elections, and is a prominent social media face with over 1.8 lakh followers. She also serves on the advisory committee of the Central Film Censor Board.

Meanwhile, in Kerala’s other corporations, Dr Niji Justin of Congress was elected Mayor in Thrissur and Mini Mol in Ernakulam.
