It was a perfect evening in Shivamogga when my cousin Karthik and I decided to head out for a coffee ride on our KTMs — his is a 2017 model, while I was on my 2022 KTM Duke 390.

We timed our ride perfectly to catch the sunset, hitting the road just as golden hour began. The Shivamogga to Thirthahalli road never disappoints — it’s my favorite stretch for a quick escape from the city. Within 10 minutes, you’re out of town and surrounded by:

🌄 Beautiful sunset viewpoints
🌿 Lush green forests and farmlands
🏞️ Scenic river views
🛣️ Smooth curves perfect for bikers

Though our original plan was to ride all the way to Thirthahalli (around 65 km), we stopped at Mandagadde since it was getting dark and not ideal for biking through the forest stretch.

Along the way, we passed the Sakrebailu Elephant Camp, which is open only in the early mornings. It's a great place to feed and interact with trained elephants, and a visit here combined with a breakfast or coffee stop at Mandagadde makes for a great one-day trip.

Mandagadde is also famous for its freshwater fish, caught and served daily — a must-try if you’re visiting around lunch time (especially for non-vegetarians!).

✅ If you’re in Shivamogga, I highly recommend this route for a peaceful evening ride, especially around sunset.
