What if one of the ways we can love others well is by simply listening, and listening well?
The incarnation of Jesus isn't a direct correlation of how to listen, but we can learn something from it. Jesus left His own comfort and entered into our world to be present with humanity. He wasn’t rushed, distracted, or ever too busy to lean into the conversation at hand. Instead, He was available and invested. Even in times of tension, He listened, and through that, He loved well.
Listening well may require you to leave your world and step into someone else's—to gain understanding, to be present in the moment, and to step out of the things that comfort you. But the fruit of that is growing in love.
