William Lane Craig is a well-known. erudite scholar and Christian philosopher. In his latest book, The Quest for the Historical Adam, Lane claims that Genesis 1-11 should be understood as mytho-history. That is, as myth that overlays an historical backbone. He also claims that “Adam,” should be identified with Homo heidelbergensis, an extinct species of human that according to conventional dating lived about 800,000 years ago. Lane fully accepts theistic evolution and deep time. Paleontologist Dr. Marcus Ross as well as Dr. Ken Coulson review these aspects of the book and demonstrate that Craig’s thesis is far from coherent.
