दिल्ली में फ्री बिजली योजना के लाभार्थियों के लिए एक बड़ा बदलाव सामने आ सकता है। Delhi सरकार अब ऐसे बिजली कनेक्शनों की पहचान कर रही है जिन्हें ‘डोरमेंट’ यानी निष्क्रिय उपभोक्ता माना जा रहा है। ये वे कनेक्शन हैं जिनमें बिजली की खपत बहुत कम है या कई महीनों से बिल्कुल भी नहीं हुई है। अभी तक नियम के अनुसार 200 यूनिट तक बिजली खपत करने वाले उपभोक्ताओं को पूरी तरह मुफ्त बिजली मिलती है, जिसका भुगतान सरकार करती है। लेकिन नए प्रस्ताव के तहत यदि किसी घर में बिजली की खपत शून्य है और घर लंबे समय से बंद है, तो ऐसे कनेक्शनों पर सब्सिडी बंद की जा सकती है और लगभग 200 रुपये तक का फिक्स्ड चार्ज लगाया जा सकता है।

A major update may affect beneficiaries of the free electricity scheme in Delhi. The Delhi government is now focusing on identifying “dormant” electricity consumers connections where electricity usage is extremely low or completely zero for long periods. Under the current rule, households consuming up to 200 units of electricity receive a zero bill because the government covers the full subsidy. However, under the proposed change, if a house remains closed and the electricity meter shows zero consumption for a long time, the subsidy may be withdrawn and a fixed charge of up to ₹200 could be imposed.
