This picture book is a great way to open a conversation with your kids about slavery and this terrible time in our history. It is obviously a complex subject to talk about, but this book does a good job of sharing many facts that most early readers are ready to begin understanding and discussing.
At the end of the book you'll have learned many interesting details about Harriet's life (she helped over 300 people escape! at one time she was a spy!). She always fought for what was right, for justice, for freedom! She was courageous, never gave up, and is an example for us all to follow!

The last page of the book is a timeline of some important dates in her life. You can pause the screen when you get there if you need more time to read the details.
