In this video, I take a closer look at the Spyderco Janisong, a very unusual folding knife designed by Michael Janich. Its sliding-rotational mechanism makes it quite different from both traditional folding knives and conventional balisongs.
I briefly introduce the background and history of the design, then demonstrate how the mechanism works and what makes it unique. Toward the end of the video, I also show several different ways to open and close the knife, some of which were inspired by techniques demonstrated by Michael Janich himself.
This video is intended as a demonstration of the knife’s mechanism and operation.
