In “Time and Again” we join Kamala in early 1940s India, during the partition. But first we encounter Aisha’s life and how it led to that tumultuous night at Karachi train station.

Aisha is Kamala’s great grandmother and obviously a fierce Djinn warrior who stumbles onto the farm of modest man named Hasan. His spirit for a truly free people can easily be perceived.

Aisha finds herself in great company with him and soon a romance ensues. Gracefully we are introduced to little “Nani”, Kamala’s grandmother as a baby girl!

We get a close encounter of how the Partition affected this young family. Aisha tries to keep optimism alive amidst isolation and discrimination for her family being Muslim.

Suddenly Najma reappears! An obvious threat, Aisha meets her to try to derail her off her trail.

While Aisha hopes this will buy her family time, she convinces Hasan that leaving on the train is their next best move.

Soon we accompany Aisha and little Nani to the train station and onto the chaos of the people trying to find their way onto a new land.

Aisha gets separated from Hasan and sends little Nani on her own to protect her from Najma.

Amidst this madness we reunite with Kamala who runs into her family! We soon encounter the powerful moment where we find out it’s Kamala who helps Nani to the train despite being separated from her mama. It is here that we witness the powerful farewell between Kamala and Aisha.

Aisha perishes after being stabbed by Najma, and Kamala is left to return to modern day a changed young woman.

When she returns the fights with Najma and the remaining Djinn resumes.

The Veil gets opened and the ambition gets the Djinn killed! Najma chooses to perish despite Kamala trying to save Kamaran’s “family”. And yet, Najma, seems to have a clear motive in ending her life as her powers get sent to Kamaran!

Episode 5 ends with Kamran and Bruno confiding in each other and one of the killer drones from DODC causing the circle Q to explode.
