*A rare recording has been unearthed featuring the Delaware supergroup "Candy" performing live in April 1970 at the Satellite Lounge in South Jersey. This group was composed of members from five of the top rock bands in Delaware during the late 1960s, consistently winning numerous "Battle of the Bands" competitions in the region. The bands represented were "Sounds Unlimited," "The Elusion," "Mister's Virtue," "A Matter of Time," and "The Menagerie."

"Candy" made their debut at the Bayshores Club in Somers Point, NJ, during Memorial Day weekend in 1969. Over that summer, they performed across the street at "Tony Mart" and "The Dunes." They were introduced to the Jersey Shore music scene by Ray Sharp of "Joey Dee and the Starlighters" fame. The group was recorded by the renowned engineer Joe Tarsia at the old Parkway Studio on South Broad Street in Philadelphia.

Playing alongside "Johnny Caswell and the Crystal Mansion," a Capital Records and Motown recording artist, at "Bayshores" allowed them to reach an older music crowd, paving the way for extensive performances at clubs throughout the Philadelphia and South Jersey areas. Some of these clubs included "The Wreck Room," "Al Joe's," "Satellite Lounge," "Continental Surfari Lounge," "Towne House Tavern," "Melody Lounge," "Adriatic Club," and "Steer and Stein," as well as various Jersey Shore venues like Bayshores, Tony Mart's, The Dunes, The White House Tavern in Margate, and the Carousel Club in Wildwood.

Those who experienced their live performances were treated to one of the most powerful and dynamic rock groups to play the Philadelphia and Jersey Shore club circuit. Please enjoy these recordings, as they represent the first of many songs to be unearthed from "Candy," fifty-five years after they made their mark in the Philadelphia/Jersey Shore region.
