The Palamuru–Rangareddy project was initiated in 2009. It started when former Mahbubnagar MP Devarakonda Vittal Rao wrote to the then Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, requesting that the project be undertaken under the Jalayagnam scheme. Subsequently, leaders and engineers, across party lines, extended their support and cooperation to the project, said Chief Minister Sri Revanth Reddy while replying to the discussion on Krishna waters in the Legislative Assembly.
పాలమూరు–రంగారెడ్డి ప్రాజెక్టుకు 2009లో బీజం పడింది. జలయజ్ఞం కింద ఈ ప్రాజెక్టును చేపట్టాలని నాటి ముఖ్యమంత్రి వైఎస్ రాజశేఖర్ రెడ్డి గారికి మహబూబ్నగర్ మాజీ ఎంపీ దేవరకొండ విఠల్ రావు గారు లేఖ రాయడంతో ఇది ప్రారంభమైంది. అనంతరం పార్టీలకు అతీతంగా నేతలు, ఇంజనీర్లు ఈ ప్రాజెక్టుకు సహకరించారు : కృష్ణా జలాలపై అసెంబ్లీలో చర్చకు సమాధానంలో ముఖ్యమంత్రి శ్రీ రేవంత్ రెడ్డి గారు.
