Spectral varieties have higher plant height than native varieties. Mocha of this variety is quite large in size and the agar side is somewhat narrow. The mocha is tightly covered with a shell up to the tip. Spectra grains are golden yellow in color and quite large in grain size. The weight of a thousand grains is 245-320 grams. This variety ripens in 140-145 days in rabi season and 95-100 days in kharif season. The yield per hectare is 5.5-6.0 tonnes in rabi season and 4.0-4.5 tonnes in kharif season. Spectra variety is high in carotene and its seeds are a good ingredient for poultry feed.
