House of Reps screens NDDC Board, Management designates

Описание: The House of Representatives has screened the presidential nominees to the Board and Management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Chairman of the Committee, Hon Ibori-Suenu Erhiatake, said the screening process for confirmation was in fulfilment of the provisions of Section 2 (2)(a) of the NDDC Act, 2000.

She charged the designates to justify the confidence reposed in them by H.E. President President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Now, more than ever before, the NDDC needs visionary leaders with integrity to drive the discharge of the commission’s mandate, to translate to tangible impact on the lives of the people and communities in the Niger Delta,” she said

Before he was confirmed, the new Chairman of the NDDC, Mr Chiedu Ebie said his cumulative experience in the public and private sector have instilled in him the core values of resilience and unwavering dedication required for the chairing the NDDC.

He said his public service positions have provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the needs of the Niger Delta region.

Ebie said the experience he has acquired would be adapted and improved upon for the smooth running of the NDDC.

He said they would work as a team for the benefit of the region and country.

On Wednesday 4th of October, 2023, the nominees appeared before the Senate and were Screened in the Committee of the whole.

Upon confirmation by the House, the National Assembly is expected to immediately transmit its resolution to the Presidency, haven effectively fulfilled Section 2 (2) (a) of the NDDC Act, which prescribes that the nominees must be screened and confirmed by the Senate in consultation with the House of Representatives.

Ifedayo Abegunde, ED, Corporate Services (Ondo); Senator Dimaro Denyanbofa (Bayelsa); Mr. Abasi Ndikan Nkono (Akwa Ibom); Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya (Delta); Chief Tony Okocha (Rivers); and Hon. Patrick Aisowieren (Edo).
