As an archivist and collector of advertising, one of my favorite brands has been Newport cigarettes. Their campy, lighthearted, soft-sell approach was always something I found to be hilarious. There's a bunch of interesting elements to the brand's history... from their logo being flipped into the most recognizable brand trademark in the world to controversy about using a pregnant model in an ad to a menthol ban that's likely to take place this year.
