Last month, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency postponed action on its "Water Tax" until after Election Day. However, this bad idea won't be any better by next year. If implemented, EPA's sledgehammer regulations will require that the water in roadside drainage canals meet the same standards as Florida's pristine rivers and streams at a cost of billions to our economy.
Worse still, Florida taxpayers, businesses, farmers and consumers would become financially responsible for the health of water that flows into Florida from neighboring states like Georgia—which does not face the same economically-crippling regulation.
The latest Free Market Florida video points out the absurdity of EPA's "Water Tax" (Numeric Nutrient Criteria) by taking a trip to the Florida-Georgia line.
