Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhakta Charan Das expressed strong anger after three Congress MLAs allegedly cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha election. The leaders named in the controversy include Dasarathi Gomango, Ramesh Jena and Sofia Firdous.

Bhakta Charan Das said he had expected the situation to improve during the Rajya Sabha election but never imagined that MLAs would go against the party whip. He accused them of acting like they were no longer members of the party and demanded strict action, even suggesting that their Assembly membership should be cancelled.

He also alleged that some leaders sold themselves politically to protect illegal activities such as sand and liquor mafia operations.
