STORYLINE:
Activists marched in Sao Paulo on Sunday in support of the legalization of marijuana in Brazil, denouncing what they described as violence and abuse of power by security forces.
With placards, plants, banners and cigarettes, the march left under the slogan "rolling a future without war."
"We decided to use the word ‘rolling’ to make it more popular and really draw people to the streets,” said Ana Claudia, one of the organizers of the march.
The proposal to include the criminalization of carrying or possessing any quantity of drugs in the Constitution was approved on June 12th in Congress.
The Constitution Amendment Proposal (PEC) will still go through a special committee, and, if approved, will go to the lower house for analysis.
