How to Create Colorful Shadows in a White Studio | Take and Make Great Photography with Gavin Hoey

Описание: The easiest way to get colorful shadows is to take your portraits against a brightly painted wall. However, in the highly likely event that you don’t have access to such a room, you’ll probably need to know how to turn everyday white walls into something a lot more colorful or how can I make my white wall more interesting. If you do that, then the normally gray shadows will magically transition into something a lot more exciting, too.

In this video, photographer Gavin Hoey will show the basics of how to add color to a white wall using gels, while also keeping a touch of the real color on his model. As Gavin explains, there are many ways you can achieve the results. So, after using just a single gel, he doubles up the effect with two gels.

Adding more lights means more shadows and more color. For Gavin’s final three-flash setup, he uses the purest red, green, and blue gels he owns. Which, when overlapped, will also create a spot of white light. To enhance the effect, Gavin puts his gels over three optical projectors to create overlapping circles of colorful light and shadow.
