Описание: Ananthagiri Hills is located 10 km from Vikarabad, Telangana, India. The hills are the main water source for Osmansagar and Himayathsagar. It is considered as one of the dense forests in Telangana region. Ananthagiri has a famous temple located in this forested region, which is also the birthplace of Musi River. It is situated at a distance of about 80 km from Hyderabad City and a popular destination for trekking and for those who love adventure. It is also considered one of the earliest human habitat areas in South India.

Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple:
According to Skanda Purana it is believed the temple is installed by the Rishi Markandeya in Dwapara Yuga. Attracted by peaceful atmosphere of Ananthagiri hills Markandeya Rishi came here for yoga sadhana. Every day Markandeya used to go to Kasi from Ananthagiri to take a holy bath in the Ganges through a cave due to his yoga sadhana. On one day he was not able to go to kasi as Dwadasi enter the early hours of the morning. Lord gave Darshana in dream and arranged the Ganges to flow to perform a holy bath for Rishi. It is one of the earliest habitat areas. Ancient caves, medieval fort structures and temple shows the antiquity of this area.

Trekking:
There are two trekking trails in the forests, one that begins from the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple and another that begins about 0.5 kilometres from the temple, towards Kerelli.
