In this unhurried short, we find eventual Stab High 2019 winner Christoper 'Chippa' Wilson loosening his limbs before the main event.
When capturing this piece, filmmaker Dylan Roberts found himself transfixed by Chippa's unique micro-movements and body mechanics, specifically in his lower half.
"I filmed it all handheld and was kinda vibing on tracking his feet as he approached the ramp, a bit skate film style," Dylan said.
Chippa is considered the most technical aerialist in surfing. This video demonstrates not just why, but how.
Notice the subtle foot-shifts while Chippa pumps, his pointed toe in mid-air.
Perhaps he should have been a dancer...
