Playing Htote Si Htoe (border-crossing game)
Htote Si Htoe or a border-crossing game is a pure Myanmar traditional past-time game play by young people of both sexes. In originated long ago in rural areas but has been enjoyed by both rural and urban children alike.
A table is has to be drawn on the ground marking in it borders such as top, middle, axis and diagonal. The players are divided into two groups, with the players of one group staying on and moving along the borders while those of the other group try to cross the line without being caught or touched by the opposition players.
Htote Si Htoe or a border-crossing game is the one of the Myanmar traditional game.
Our students sometime play in school and home when they are free. In this video presentation, we will submit the competition Htote Si Htoe teams from grade-8, 9 and 10 students. Playing Htote Si Htoe involves much physical activity as one team of players has to block the border lines while the other team members have to run across them. Sharpness of eyesight, smart decisions and rapid movements as well as team spirit are crucial to the game.
In our school's Htote Si Htoe competition, our school judge is physical education teacher, Mrs. Khin Htay Thi . She has fourteen line judges . One team has ten students from different classes . In one programme of match , two teams will compete . The players of one team staying on and moving along, the borders while those of the other team try to cross the lines without being caught of touched by the opposition players. The winning team is decided by whether it can successfully protect the borders or cross every line from start to finish then back to the starting point.
Our school communities decided to give prizes for competitors, students . We will show this video as a school activity and to safeguard the our traditional game for the students.
This traditional game, Htoke Si Htoe or a border-crossing game is the one of the Myanmar's Intangible cultural heritage and the student should safeguard this Myanmar's Intangible cultural heritage .
