If 2 X 2 or adjustable weave poles and guide wires aren't working for you and your dog--or even if they are, but you'd like to fast-forward your dog's weave-pole skills--try this easy, old-fashioned weave-pole hack. Once your dog has committed the serpentine movement to muscle memory, then you fade the lure ASAP and begin building speed and independence. Gradually distance yourself and vary your position and behavior relative to the poles. Send your dog from different directions and varying distances to a "dead toy" or treat at the end of the weaves.
