Again, gotta do the classics first.
The Doom II soundtrack has a lot of midis that follow a very similar format. Having identical sections of the same melody which only switch between sets of instruments. For the longest time it never really occurred to me that it was happening, but taking a look at them in sekaiju its obvious. In a way it makes them slightly less interesting, but also just as interesting because they tend to use some strange combinations of instruments.

My favorite track here is probably Opening to Hell. I think in a way, that track was ahead of its time? I never thought it fit the same vibe or formulaic nature of the other tracks. It uses a few rarer instruments, and all in interesting ways. Especially that whistle sound that is so eerie and I've never seen replicated elsewhere.

I also must mention the tracks which are based on Alice in Chains songs. Specifically, Bye Bye American Pie was actually the reason I first heard of AiC. I listened to Them Bones and I loved it. Then I listened to Angry Chair and realized it was Adrian's Asleep. From then on, they were pretty much my favorite real band. I've never been very knowledgable on real bands or music outside of this type of thing. So it was strange for me to have an interest in a real band.
