Описание: Self condensation of aromatic aldehyde without alpha hydrogen in presence of cyanide ion as catalyst to give alpha hydroxy ketone (Benzoin) is called benzoin condensation.

In this video, I have discussed Benzoin condensation with mechanism and applications.

Most important application from this reaction is when we have two different aldehyde having different groups have also been discussed.
