Tens of thousands of people crowded in front of Buckingham Palace
in London on Monday (8/5) to relive the celebrations which marked
the end of World War Two. From the balcony of the palace, the
Queen Mother, and her daughters, Queen Elizabeth and Princess
Margaret, acknowledged the cheers, just as they had 50 years ago.
They watched a fly-past by planes which helped to win the war in
Europe ... planes with evocative names like Spitfire, Hurricane,
Lancaster and Mosquito. The crowd sang along as a military band
played "Rule Britannia" and "Land of Hope and Glory."
