🍣 Detailed Salmon Poke Recipe
Step 1 – Cook the Rice
Rinse the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear. Cook until tender, using a ratio of 1 part rice to 1.5 parts water.
Step 2 – Prepare the Seasoning
In a saucepan, combine Mitsukan (rice vinegar) with sugar and salt. Bring to a gentle boil, then let cool. The seasoning should strike a perfect balance of sour, sweet, and salty. The key is to fully dissolve the sugar and salt. Once cooled, mix it into the rice.
Step 3 – Slice the Vegetables
Cut cucumber and radish into thin strips. Dice the avocado into cubes as shown in the video. Slice chili peppers into rings, adjusting the spiciness to taste.
Step 4 – Prepare the Salmon
Carefully separate the fillet from the skin, leaving all the fat on the skin. Cut the salmon into 1 × 1 cm cubes. Mix with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and the juice of ¼ lime. Let marinate for 5–7 minutes.
Step 5 – Make the Poke Sauce
Whisk together:
-Mayonnaise
-Sriracha or chili sauce
Soy sauce
Mix until smooth — the sauce is ready.
Step 6 – Season the Rice
Add the cooled vinegar mixture to the rice and stir thoroughly.
Step 7 – Assemble the Poke Bowl
