Описание: In this Cooperage Moment, watch as the barrel heads go from pieces of wood (held together by wooden dowels) to shaped products you know and recognize. The ends are trimmed—using a double-beveled edge—as the scraps are set aside for the toasting fires. The rounded barrel head (with a slant, so it will fit in the croze) is then smoothed and sanded, but only on the outside. If the inside is toasted, sanding would remove the toast. When the coopers insert the heads, they must be properly fitted in, so that the pieces are vertical, ensuring that the sides of the barrel put pressure on the head as the barrel is prone.
