This is the sixth in a series of videos where I'll create a 3d, animated model, of a helicopter. My intent with this series is to end up with a realistic 3d animation of a helicopter; one that I can use in future videos, to show how a helicopter works.
In this video I explain:
The purpose of the tail rotor, how it's controlled and the reason for the canted tail rotor
The non-rotating controls and how they provide input to the stationary swashplate
The Bifilar vibration damper on the rotor head
The mechanical bearings used in the swashplate
How to model the swashplate motion in Blender using a three-level parent and drivers
The purpose of doing this as an incremental build is to seek viewer feedback on this model so I can make adjustments to the design and also learn how to better explain the concepts covered in the video.
