A no-drill, DIY window awning for our Four Wheel Camper keeps us much cooler on hot sunny days. It weighs 22 ounces, sets up in a few minutes and shades the large windows and un-insulated fabric side of the pop-up section. It allows us to open all four windows to get good cross-flow ventilation without letting the sun in to make it hot inside. We only use this on really warm days, but it helps us tolerate outdoor temperatures in the 80F to 90 or 95F range.
The awning fabric is 23 inches by 127 inches after hemming (58cm x 323 cm) and the aluminum tent poles are 29 inches (74cm) after adding a 1 inch (2.5cm) threaded rod to one end. Note, unlike the DIY 270 deg Awning in our last video ( • A DIY 270 Awning on our Four Wheel Camper ), which will work as-is on any slide-in truck camper, this window awning is very specific to Four Wheel Campers.
