In this tutorial we see how to calculate IDMT Relays Time Multiplier Settings (TMS). TMS is a very important parameters of an IDMT relay as its calibrate its timing to work in a differential protection together with other upstream relays on the network.
This allow the over current relay to react appropriately when there's a short circuit current at the primary of the current transformer. The TMS settings will prevent 2 relays from tripping at the same time.
