This is the castle of the baron Bettino Ricasoli (1809 – 1880) known as the “Iron Baron”, the inventor of the Chiantit recipe and the headquarter of he fourth longest-lived company in the world in the same place and the second in the wine sector. Barone Ricasoli is the oldest winery in Italy. The first stones of Brolio Castle date back to the middle ages. The castle passed into the hands of the Ricasoli family thanks to an exchange of lands in 1141. Brolio, on the border between the territories of Siena and Florence.
