The Prince and Princess of Wales made their first appearance of the new year since spending the Christmas break in Sandringham. They returned to their first royal public duties on 8 January 2025, as they surprised hard-working healthcare workers at Charing Cross Hospital in West London.
William and Kate are joint patrons of NHS Charities Together and wanted to show their support for healthcare professionals by spending time with them to discuss the challenges they are facing during the winter virus season. The royal couple also spoke with volunteers managed by the charity who help to improve care for patients and take pressure off the wider workforce.
