Hope on the Horizon? IMD says Goa May See Heavy Rain from June 22

Описание: After weeks of below-normal rainfall, Goa may finally see relief as the state is likely to receive fresh spells of rain from June 22, with heavy showers expected in several parts, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Officials said Goa has so far recorded nearly 60 per cent below-normal rainfall, largely due to the impact of El Niño, raising concerns among farmers and residents dependent on the monsoon.

IMD Director Nahush Kulkarni said a similar situation was witnessed in June 2023, when rainfall levels were nearly 70 per cent below normal. However, monsoon activity intensified significantly in July that year, bringing much-needed rainfall.

Kulkarni expressed optimism that weather conditions would improve in the coming weeks, with rainfall activity expected to strengthen across Goa. The forecast has brought hope, especially for the agricultural sector, which has been anxiously awaiting consistent monsoon showers.
