Eyelet Setting, Insole Trimming & Toe Puff Preparation | Real Shoemaking Process (Part 1)

Описание: Handcrafted in Istanbul — real shoemaking inside a working workshop.

This first video in the series shows the preparation steps before the shoe upper is lasted onto the shoe last.

The process begins by marking the eyelet positions on the shoe upper using a silver marking pen. These marks guide the precise placement of the metal eyelets used for the shoelaces.

After marking, the eyelets are pressed into the upper, creating reinforced lace holes.

Before lasting begins, a temporary cord is threaded through the eyelets. This cord acts as a temporary lace to help control the upper during assembly.

Next comes the insole installation.
The insole is nailed onto the shoe last and the edges are carefully trimmed with a knife so the insole perfectly follows the contour of the last.

The same process is repeated on another last:
insole nailing followed by precise knife trimming along the last shape.

After the base preparation is completed, the heel counter and toe puff are shaved on a trimming machine to achieve the correct thickness and flexibility.

Finally, a toe puff solvent (activator) is applied to soften and activate the toe puff and heel counter materials so they can be shaped properly during the lasting stage.

These preparation steps are critical for achieving the correct structure and shape in professional shoemaking.
