Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum firmly dismissed speculation of a possible U.S. military intervention in Mexico, following reports that President Donald Trump signed an executive order authorizing military force to combat drug cartels.
In a press conference, Sheinbaum stated: “It has nothing to do with Mexican territory. It does not involve our territory.”
She clarified the Pentagon's directive was limited to actions within the United States and that Mexico had been informed, but no U.S. troops would enter Mexican soil.
In the same briefing, Sheinbaum also addressed accusations that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has ties to the Sinaloa Cartel, following a U.S. announcement doubling the reward for his arrest to $50 million.
“We have no investigation that has to do with that. If they have evidence, they should show it,” she said.
