Total War's "Single Entity Problem"

Описание: Nowhere do the introduced problems of modern Total War intersect more perfectly than in their "Single Entities". A hangover from Warhammer.. they force all games using them in their current state to inherit all of its own problems. From its terrible balancing, to its lack of immersion, to the health bars that trivialise gameplay in the worst possible ways. All of it is haemorrhaging over.

Maybe that deserves its own analysis, health bars and how they work, not only on heroes, but on units. What it is about health bars that mechanically and systemically makes them an aberration of classic Total War and a continuation of the departure, and how is it that they go hand in hand with the hidden combat modifiers from difficulty that make regular unit vs. unit combat so badly crippled in the first place? It's very clear that the emphasis is completely off of the actual units and their variables and their tactics and it's being foisted onto these single entities with these massive health bars. I've got a lot of thoughts and observations regarding the health bars and I can figure out the rest, so let me know and I'll think about formalising it at some point, maybe I can. In the meantime, I am actually curious what you think about this single entity subject. I got a lot of comments on the last video and they basically just confirmed absolutely everything I said to have been ruthlessly cutting and extremely incisive. I was right on the fucking mark. I'm wondering if that'll be the case again. So let me know.
