Описание:
After death, a body undergoes predictable stages of decomposition, starting with the action of internal bacteria and progressing through colonization by various insects like blowflies, beetles, and wasps. Eventually, only dry bones remain.
Stages of Decomposition
Fresh Stage (Days 1-2):
Anaerobic bacteria from the gut spread and start breaking down cells.
Blowflies arrive and lay eggs in natural openings and wounds.
Bloated Stage (Days 2-6):
Maggots hatch and feed on tissues, releasing fluids and gases, causing bloating.
Body temperature rises due to maggot activity.
More blowflies attracted, along with beetles (e.g., carrion beetles) that lay eggs.
Parasitic wasps arrive to lay eggs in fly and beetle larvae.
Active Decay Stage (Days 5-11):
Maggot masses liquefy tissues, causing strong odors.
Fluids leak into the surrounding environment.
Beetles and their larvae continue to feed on tissues and maggots.
Fly populations decrease as tissues dry out.
Advanced Decay Stage (Days 10-25):
Most soft tissues consumed, leaving skin, cartilage, and bones.
Body dries out significantly.
Cheese flies and coffin flies replace blowflies.
Beetle species with strong mouthparts (e.g., hide beetles) feed on remaining tissues.
Dry Remains Stage (Days 25+):
Mainly bones and hair remain.
Mites and moth larvae feed on hair.
Decomposition slows significantly.
Body eventually skeletonizes.
