Iran's foreign ministry spokesman, Ismail Baghaee, stated on Monday, June 23, during a weekly press briefing in Tehran, that the country is focused on defending itself. This announcement came a day after the United States escalated the conflict by targeting nuclear sites with airstrikes. Iran reiterated its previous threats to retaliate against the United States; however, more than 24 hours later, it had not taken any significant action in response to the U.S. bombers dropping 30,000-pound bunker buster bombs on its underground nuclear facilities. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump openly suggested the possibility of overthrowing the Iranian government.
