A special court in Islamabad has sentenced four officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Defence Production for allegedly spying for Russian intelligence and sharing sensitive military information.

The main accused, Safdar Rehman, received 10 years in prison, while three others were sentenced to 5 years each under the Official Secrets Act 1923.

According to the court, the accused passed classified documents about Pakistan Army headquarters, defense budgets, and Pakistan Navy aircraft purchases to a Russian diplomat linked to the Embassy of Russia in Islamabad.

Authorities say the suspects were arrested in 2021, and investigators even recovered hard drives and thousands of dollars allegedly paid for the secret information. The case highlights serious concerns about national security and espionage within sensitive defense institutions.
