A motto is a sentence or phrase to summarize the beliefs or ideals of an individual, family, or institution. A national motto is used to describe the intent or motivation of a country in a short phrase. The country motto or slogan can be included on a country's flag, coat of arms or currency. National Mottos used to be very popular. They help us to understand a country’s history and priorities.

Most countries have an official national motto. Kiddopedia team has included the unofficial mottos in this video for educational purposes. For a few countries, we were unable to find a motto. These countries are listed at the end of the video.

In the video, each country's name and flag is shown together with the national motto in English and in the native language of each country where possible.
