During its era, no human defense spell could stop it, and the spell alone wiped out 40% of adventurers and 70% of sorcerers in the region.

But after Qual’s defeat, the world studied his magic. In just a few years, mages reverse-engineered Zoltraak and turned it into demon-killing magic. He awakened to a world where his most powerful creation had become ordinary. Though Qual quickly analyzed modern defensive spells, the gap caused by eighty years of magical evolution was too great.

The Demon King — The Apex of Demonkind
