First, connect the appropriate cable from the transducer to the monitor.

Second, level the transducer to the Foramen of Monroe (FOM) by using the level on a string or the laser depending on what is connected to the drain. If the patient is laying supine, it would look level to the tragus of the ear.

Lastly, follow the steps of the video to zero, measure ICP & measure CSF output.

Chart hourly regarding the ICP & CSF output. Other important things to note in your charting would be the dressing site & the height of the EVD in "cm's of H20" that is ordered by the neuro surgeon.
