The actual term is Ambisonic Audio. It is destined to be the de facto audio medium for VR content, to provide an engaging VR experience to the viewers. 16D Audio is an enhanced version of 8D Audio.

Summary: 16D Musica / 16D music in 3D/binaural/surround effect: 8D AUDIO is rotating, but 16D Audio adds an extra rotating/positioned audiolayer to the mix, making it more rich. (for more, see below)
